Function

Scientist Research unit 'Ecology of Mediterranean Forests'

Research

As a population biologist, my research falls within the framework of the impact of global change on forest biocenoses, including biological invasions and climate change. Since 2008, I have been in charge of the EDYPOP activity (Ecology and DYnamics of Forest Insect Populations), one of the two scientific activities structuring the Populations Biology & Evolution team of my unit. My research activities mainly aim at understanding the role of insects in the dynamics and evolution of Mediterranean forest ecosystems. Integrating multidisciplinary approaches based on ecology, biology, genetics, population dynamics and modelling, I am interested in the processes of interactions between insects and their biotic (host plants and competitors) and abiotic (climate) environments. Ultimately, my aim is to integrate these processes into analytical and predictive models of the impact of these host-parasite interactions on the functioning and adaptation of Mediterranean forest ecosystems.

Key words : biological invasions, biotic interactions, ecological niche, phenology, resource use strategies, masting, reproduction strategies, climatic models, Approximate Bayesian Computation, modelling, epidemic, endemic, climate change, drought, forest decline, forest dieback, resilience, forest health, Mediterranean forests, Megastigmus, Cedrus, Abies, Juniperus, Cupressus, Wolbachia, bark beetles.
